We have both Road Cycling and Mountain Biking as options for our students. Our students have the opportunity to represent themselves and the school within local, south island, and national events. We are very fortunate to have Mountain Bike trails within the Geraldine community, which are well-visited by our student population.

Community Opportunities

Local Bunch Ride  (Introduction to Road Cycling)

  • Every Tuesday @ 6:00 pm (Summer Only) for a 35km ride around Woodbury block – meeting outside subway
  • Every Saturday 10:00am (All Year) for a 50km ride – meeting outside subway.
  • For any support required to access races or interest in the local bunch rides (or just an introduction to road cycling in general), please feel free to get in contact.

These rides are ideal for young people who want to learn about the etiquette of Road Cycling, in preparation for Racing (if they wish to do so in the future). However, they are primarily a great way to get fitter, stronger & faster, riding alongside other like-minded cyclists.

Please Note: These are no drop rides, which means that the bunch rides at a pace that enables all riders to be able to stay with the bunch, eg, if a puncher is incurred, everyone waits.

Local Racing

Cycling South Canterbury has a great development programme that has produced many of our country’s Olympic and Tour riders.

Mountain Biking Academy

The Mountain Biking Academy intends to take a minivan of students up to Mount Hutt Mountain Biking Park and other locations on select weekends. Some of these sessions may also involve coaching sessions to help improve students’ ability and performance.
