Our brand new GHS Rowing Squad competed in their first regatta over the weekend. With stunning weather Lake Ruataniwha in Twizel provided perfect conditions for our crew to row on open water for the first time. Our squad has been together for only a few weeks, with training sessions taking place on Saltwater Creek in Timaru and in the GHS gym for erg training with Base Fitness.

Our crew raced in several races each with our quad of Justina, Charlee, Rachel, Isabelle and Terrilee placing highly enough in their heat to make the A Final. Our quad of Maddi, Terrilee, Justina, Charlee and Rachel won their B Final. Jaeger had successful races with both Timaru Boys and Roncalli making finals races as well.

Huge thanks to Sally Houston for the use of her house, Base Fitness and Bianca Sheed for the strength and conditioning training, and our coaches, Jeremy and Dave for their mahi. Thanks also to the Timaru Rowing Club for allowing us the use of their boats.

We are still looking for rowers and coxes. If you are keen to be part of our awesome squad please get in touch with Rae at rowing@geraldinehs.school.nz or talk to one of the team.

If you are keen to support GHS Rowing via sponsorship or gear please let us know. We are starting from scratch so can use all the help we can get!
