Term 2 Sports

The Shift in Work Culture

The end of term two and it’s been another great term of Sport at GHS. Quads have been a highlight, Cross Country events and great results in our winter codes.

If you want to know more about sports at Geraldine High School check out our Facebook page, Geraldine High School Sport where we post results, notices and photos.

Fees and Uniforms

Just a gentle reminder that fees for sporting events need to be paid and uniforms need to be returned asap.

There are a number of outstanding sports fees which are now overdue. Please pay asap if you know you have these.

We now have some of the uniforms on a barcode system, which is great for keeping track of them. If you notice the barcode coming off after washing, just iron it down again.

Sports Webpage

Check out our school website on the Sports Tab for info about Sports on offer at GHS.

Basketball

Subs of $80 are due now.

Aoraki Junior Boys and Girls Champs

We had our Junior Boys and Junior Girls A Basketball teams take part in the Aoraki Junior champs. Games were played in great spirit and both teams played well and gave it their all against some top teams.

Thank you to the coaches and refs who helped at these tournaments.

St Thomas Basketball Exchange

We had the pleasure of hosting a Basketball team from St Thomas’s School in Christchurch on Wednesday 25th June. The game was played in good spirit and it was awesome to see the GHS Senior A Boys team come away with a win. 83-75 to GHS.

Cross Country

Nationals

Billy N attended the National Cross Country Champs in Whanganui and he placed 9th in his grade. Outstanding effort Billy.

Quads

We won Senior Quad!!!! It was nearly a clean sweep for GHS. We only lost one rugby game and that was a close game between Mt Hutt College and us with the score ending up 17-15. Huge Congratulations to the Senior teams and thank you to the coaches, referees, umpires, Sports Committee and staff that made this day a great success.

Spirit of Adventure Trip

On the 4th of June 10 students from GHS left for Auckland to take part in a five day Spirit of Adventure voyage. The Students all came back excited from their trip commenting that it was great to make new friends, learn new skills and visit some amazing places. Big thanks to Andy Morrison who was our staff member on this trip. Shout out also to local groups and the wider community who contributed funds for our students to attend this trip.

We will be offering this opportunity again next year to our year 10 students so start saving.

Netball

We were lucky enough to have a visit from Martina Salmon from the Tactix Netball team on June 9th. Martina spent some time with our Senior A Netball team in a skills session followed by a question and answer session. Big thanks to Venture Timaru for making this possible.

Junior SISS

We wish our Junior A Netball team all the best for their upcoming trip to Christchurch to take part in Junior SISS in the first week of the holidays. Good luck girls!!!
